Hiked to the summit a couple of times. Interesting elevational changes in vegetaion, staring with tropical humid, ending in a montane pine forest (with a rocky summit poking above all else.) Tallest point in all the Carribean.

Climbed with students and staff from Escuela Caribe. Spent a day in Valle de Tetero as well. Built a sweat lodge next to the Yaque River. Did 10.5 kilometers on foot in 1.5 hours on the last day descending back to La Cienaga. Thanks to Tigua, Jeno and their family for guiding the trip.

I climbed with my wife, Kimberly; my brother Mark; and his wife, Angie. We took the La Cienaga Route up and the Valle de Tetero Route down. It took four days, with one day spent in the valley. The valley is a nice place with waterfalls, pools, lots or parrots, and wild horses. All four days were completely cloudless.
