Pictures of Home

Up at a mountain,
Only my own words return.
Nobody's up there,
It's a deception ..
When will I ever learn?
I'm alone here,
With emptiness, eagles, and snow.
Unfriendliness chilling my body;
And whispering pictures of HOME ..."
I have been a South Willow whisperer for a very long time.
My adventures have taken me to a small lake at the base of this cirque,
high above the sprawling Tooele Valley where I grew up as a youngster.
Pictured here is the awesomely high (10,685') east face of South Willow Peak, taken from the trail at 9,200 feet.
