| Started at Manitou Springs early in the morning for the long hike up. Nice trail all the way up with lots of solitude and then at the summit you cross train tracks, have a hot dog and a cold or hot drink and perhaps even a bowl of chili and are assaulted by a mass of people who either drove up or took the cob rail. Strange. | |

| I drove up. Felt guilty so I drove back down about 3 road miles, then parked and hiked up about 900 vertical feet. Not a big day on the trail but at least I felt slightly better about it afterwards. Enjoyed the scenery :). The rocks and sky looked nice too. | |

| Just signing the log. Climbed Pikes several times in 2005 as training for Rainier. Awesome peak, but a bit weird to get to the summit and contend with the parking lot, heavy breathin' tourists, and the train! | |

| After sleeping in the car waiting to have a fuel pump installed in Pueblo, I was joyous to get to Crags CG for a 4:50am start to Pikes. The summit boulder cone and mobs of people were offset by the creature comforts on summit. | |

| We were in the Springs area, and decided to do an afternoon hike up from Devil's Playground. It made for a nice little hike, and we enjoyed the views...other than all the hundreds of people on the summit, who were also enjoying the views.... can't blame them! Great afternoon hike! | |

| Took old Barr Trail all the way up and down. Made for a very long day. Summit was jampacked with tourists, most of whom were amazed at the hikers coming up from Barr Trail. Summit views were disappointing compared to those of the other 14ers. Probably my least favorite 14er hike thus far. I will definitely check out the Crags Route if I attempt Pikes in the future. | |
