Tanima, Alice, Chief's Head Combo
Camped at Thunder Lake with buddies Andrea and Ben. Started our hike around 4:30am and went up Boulder-Grand Pass. Clouds filled in by the time we got to Tanima, so no views, but on to Alice next!
Summitted Tanima on a backpacking trip to Thunder Lake. We left camp at 4:40 am and climbed up Boulder-Grand Pass. Once on the pass at 6:10 morning clouds rolled in, obscuring our entire ascents of Tanima and Mount Alice. Luckily the clouds broke as we were descending Alice around 8:30. The hourglass ridge traverse was listed as Class 3 but felt closer to hard class 2. After reaching the saddle, we summitted Chiefs Head. This was definitely one of the best views in the park. Absolutely stunning views of Longs Peak, Wild Basin, Glacier Gorge, and the far northern and western reaches of the park. We decided to make it a loop and descended down the Lion Lake basin. Luckily, on our glissade down the ice shelf that deposits into Snowbank Lake, we stuck to the right and avoided a potential 25 foot plunge off the ice shelf into the lake. These lakes are probably some of the prettiest in the park.

Bonus Peak
Climbed from Boulder-Grand Pass, a quick add to our descent from Alice, although coming down to Thunder Lake was time consuming on soft snow and talus. With Scot.

Cleaver to Isolation Peak
Finally found the technical (5.4) route that stays close to the Continental Divide between The Cleaver and further up (S) the Divide to Isolation Peak. No guide book currently identifies it well.

Hiked both peaks after a camp at the North Saint Vrain backcountry campsite. This was one of the most beautiful hikes of my life, passing by two waterfalls (Trio Falls and Fan Falls) and four lakes (Lion Lake Number 1, Lion Lake Number 2, Snowbank Lake, and unnamed lake above Fan Falls). Nice exposure while getting to the summit of Pilot Mtn.
