Pilot Peak

Pilot Peak

Pilot Peak (Absaroka Range, Wyoming) is one of the most spectacular and difficult mountains (by standard route-- 5.6 with extreme exposure and awful rock) in Greater Yellowstone. Its striking neighbor, Index Peak, is visible right in front of it (look for the rock mass lit by the sun). This view is from my campsite on a ridge overlooking Goose Lake at the edge of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Beartooth Mountains, MT-- July 2010

Re: Looks a lot..........

Yup...I had the pleasure of viewing this peak from other mountains from all four cardinal directions this summer. Next year, if I have the guts, I may climb it.
