boisedocwinter hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 24, 2015

John, John and I headed down from Boise for a change of pace as the snow is terrible for skiing right now and the fog in Boise is unbearable. Pretty nice area- the 2000foot prominence peaks in Northern Nevada have proven to be fun winter and spring outings.

We were able to drive the frozen road to the FS guard station.
From there, we walked some tire tracks for a short distance before donning snowshoes. Near the top of the valley, we cut uphill directly for the south ridge. Nice enough on top- surprisingly warm, warm enough for the snow to ball to the snowshoes.
On the way back, we went over the top of Rosebud, then straight downhill to the corrals, which are about a quarter mile from where we had parked.
Road very wet and muddy on the way out.

Well done. You did it the "hard" way but glad you signed the climber's log with your info.

calebEOCBeautiful area  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 22, 2014

Camped at Big Bend campground, a beautiful camping spot high in the mountains in a dense aspen grove. Lightning storms to the south kept the evening entertaining. Had owls and falcons flying around the camping area also, just a wonderful camping spot.

Drove most of the 4x4 road, but opted to park at the 7824 saddle and hike the remaining road which quickly deteriorated to an atv track. Lots of bouldering up high, with some bushwhacking mixed in for good measure. Amazing views down into the Bruneau River Canyon and across to the Copper Mountain Range. For minor as this mountain may be in the overall scheme of Nevada P2K's this is really a pretty area to visit.

A repeat. Only a pair of elk hunters had found and signed the register since I had been there last. Did this one with Dennis Poulin.

DeanOne of 7   Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 25, 2010

This was mountain number four of the seven we visited over a 4 day weekend. The day before we visited McAfee and McCann Creek Mountains and prior to visiting Pine, we visited Merritt Mountain.
We followed up by visiting the Matterhorn of the Jarbidge mountains the next day and a couple more before we headed home. My companion on this effort was Ken Jones of Seattle. We enjoyed the autumn colors on Pine Mountain and found the area to be very beautiful.
