but I guess it will be a while before this gully is in condition for ice climbing. looks like a great ride though.

note this is not the left gully on the descent. that I think is usually the ice climbing chute. this is the lefthand gully looking up from the hotlum icefall.

we ascended the H-W "ridge", then contoured left up the wide chute to the summit. On the way down, we traversed left off the summit to the top of the hotlum headwall, then two of us dropped the chute immediately to skiers right of the headwall (seen here) and the other two dropped the wider chute right next to it.

the more well-known ice gully is to the climber's right / skier's left of the headwall (haven't climbed it yet), but there is also one that forms to the climber's left / skier's right (climbed it last year). Nice work !

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."   --Calvin Coolidge
