Description

I'm organizing a trip to Ecuador for the end of December into January 2013.

At this point, it's myself and my two roommates who are dedicated climbers. This will be a step up from Rainier which we climbed (unguided, via DC) last year.

Plans are currently forming but the rough schedule follows

Fri 12/28 Travel day- Fly out of boston in the morning, get situated in Quito at night
Sat 12/29 Explore Quito / Acclimatization Hikes
Sunday 12/30 Travel to Cotopaxi, Climb to refuge
Monday 12/31 Summit / Descend
Tuesday 1/1/13 Travel to base of Chimborazo
Wednesday 1/2/13 Climb to Refugio Whymper
Thursday 1/3/13 Summit / Descend
Friday 1/4/13 **Bonus Day**
Saturday 1/5/13 **Bonus Day**
Sunday 1/6/13 Fly Out

The schedule, as listed, allows for 2 extra days that could be expended on travel or acclimatization as needed.

If you're interested in joining us, please contact me with your experience!

If you're planning a similar trip, feel free to contact me as our plans could be malleable!

Thanks,

Justin

Thats a very agressive aclimating schedule. You may want to research it a bit more.

Thanks for your input.

The schedule is very aggressive as it is listed and I anticipate utilizing both the 'bonus' days in one way or another. It's hard to anticipate where they will be needed (most likely spent on early acclimatization).

This trip leaves something to be desired for those wishing to take in some of the Ecuador cultures, but my trips are typically premised on accomplishing as much as possible, in as little time as possible.

Thank you both for your input! Scott, sounds like an awesome trip. Certainly got your share of climbing in.

Dates are now 1/10-1/19 and tickets are in hand.

The first half of the trip prepares for cotopaxi, chimborazo on the last (or second to last) day.

snowspark6in ecuador with gear

Hey, just a quick and interested reply to your volcano plans. I am in Ecuador until may and have almost everything an expedition partner could ask for. Ice tools and mtneering axe, 1 each screw/picket, new 9.2 alpine rope, boots, crampons, stove, small pot/pan. NO TENT. I have also been up to 6000 meters 3 times in the last year or so, so I know what to expect from my body.
I'm a good guy, pretty fit, lookin to bag as many of the big volcanoes as I can on my trip. I'm in Banos right now watching Tungurahua erupt!!!

Cheers!
