Dolomite rocks and their plants offer for us a special warm
Flora in Dolomites forms mainly a xerothermic vegetation. Especially on southern slopes of mountains it is well visible. There are here original associations composed of cushion-like plants. Spruce-pine-larch forests are below the rocky vegetation. Larches, sometimes covered completely by a lichen, Usnea sp., dominate in this area. Going down we enter into the beautiful alpine meadows where many herbs and species of orchids grow.
