Plaza del Mulas

Camping Beta: Plaza del Mulas base camp (14,000') along the Normal Route on Aconcagua. Each expedition/mule company has its own area and toilets that are roped off. There is also a medical tent and ranger tent as you first enter the camp. In addition, there are numerous companies selling food, beverages, tee-shirts, hot showers, Internet access and mule services. There is even a hotel about 1/2 mile away. Keep in mind that many of these services aren't available early in the climbing season. Photo taken December 8, 2005.
