Poppy covered mountain slopes

Poppy covered mountain slopes

Lake Isabella, Southern Sierra, in the year of the great el nino, March 1998. The Pacific storms continued pounding the state until mid June. When 10,000' Tioga Pass was finally plowed on July 4th weekend the high country was still buried in deep snow!

I see what you mean. A delightful romp! In this case Dorothy and Co. would be vertically challenged to a significant degree on some of the 30 degree slopes!

Re: I remember...

Hi Heat! This was taken around March 15 around Kissack Bay on the south shore during a 2 week window between the storms. I was coming from the Ventana Wilderness/Santa Lucia Range on the way to Death Valley where the flowers were really cookin' like in '05.
Later man!

Re: all together in one picture

Thanks Aranka. I wonder what it would have been like to be in the midst of all those poppies!
