Port Egmont Commemorative Plaque

Although no trace survives of the original Port Egmont plaque proclaiming British sovereignty, in 1995 the Islands government placed this plate on the original site and reproduced the declaration of sovereignty made by Captain S W Clayton, the garrison commander, in 1774.
