trailken1Northwest Ridge Via Raspberry Lake  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 23, 2014

trailken1

I climbed the sharp obsidian peak #6121 and then Preston Peak with My 12 year old Grandson. We climbed the northwest ridge via Raspberry Lake.

Lots of brush, sun and some forest fire smoke.

A fantastic adventure, but gained some grey hair watching my Grandson's bravado upon the class 3 rocks and he found a few vertical pillars (certain class 4's) that added to my and his stress... Grippy granite with lots of hand holds and cracks = Lots of fun!

Not so sure that I would take a kid this young up it again... but that's an old guy speaking..

One of my first peaks back about 15 years ago. In 2010 I decided to make this an annual event, climbed 3x since.

Climbed this great peak with Pat Brennan early in my climbing career. He had just spent a month on a climbing road trip and we did this summit to punctuate the end of his time on the road. I still have an old photo of rafting on Raspberry Lake on the way out to the car.

My absolute very first mountain. I was just a kid, and my incredibly slow parents were barely able to drag their overloaded overnight packs to Raspberry lake. Being full of 16 year old energy I took off up the ridge by myself and had the time of my life. Thus is this reclusive exquisite peak forever lodged in my memory. Seeing the ocean from the summit made me feel like I was on top of the world.
