[ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Prickly Pear Cactus with Fruits
Opuntia Engelmannii photographed in Red Rocks, Nevada.

The pads of Prickly Pear Cactus are actually rapidly-growing flattened stems.
The sap from the pads can be used in first aid similar to the aloe vera plant.
When the blooms fade, edible fruits begin to form.
