29-January-2010: 70's climber humor, as the guidebook puts it. Yes, it's a barn door handle bolted to the route ..

Voted 10/10 | So you must have done this today. I am glad you got a picture of it because I wanted one for the route page.
I am not too proud to admit that I used the handle...
What else did you guys climb today?

Hasn't voted | Costanoan -- first two pitches were mossy !! Justin's first multipitch leads. He took p1 and p3 and I led the others.
I think p1 is the best. btw You may want to mention in your route page to not fall between the first and second bolt, or else you'll deck !! | | Posted Jan 29, 2010 10:13 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Rob, are you referring to the Costanoan when you mention the decking potential or are you referring to Twinkle Toes? I don't remember thinking the first two bolts on the Costanoan were spaced that far apart, but it was a long time ago. I know that the first bolt was added to protect the opening moves, the hardest ones on the route. | | Posted Jan 29, 2010 10:22 pm |

Hasn't voted | I'm referring to pitch one of the Costanoan -- see Justin's summit log entry.

Voted 10/10 | can I add to my "Mank" album?
I love the fact that whoever upgraded to a modern bolt/hanger also chose to keep the relic in place. Very cool :) | | Posted Feb 17, 2010 1:46 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Radek ! I'd heard about this for years, and finally just had to go see it for myself :) It's really not that manky -- looked very solid in fact.
I used to laugh about Pinnacles being choss, but the place actually has a lot of fun climbing & cool scenery. I'm not surprised that it's part of the National Park system. | | Posted Feb 17, 2010 2:53 pm |
