The profile you see from Hwy. 105 in Foscoe is not actually the profile that Grandfather Mountain once was famous for. Back in the 1800's visitors to the area climbed to see this profile, high on Calloway Peak. You can't drive your SUV up to this one though so it's been all but forgotton.
