Ptarmigan Peak as seen from...
Ptarmigan Peak as seen from the vicinity of Pass Butte to the SSE on August 20, 2001. Except for that snowpatch, the upper reaches of Ptarmigan Peak can be expected to be dry in late summer. There are small ponds in the saddle between it and Dot Mountain, however. Ascending Ptarmigan along Dot Creek is BW3 bushwhacking but abates to manageable open terrain above about 6,600 ft.
