Climbing on the Pointe de la Chavache from the south side needs no technical knowledge, but no path leads to the summit.
You must have experience with hiking on wild territory. You will be probably alone on the summit even during the busy summer hollydays.

Start point is Chalets de la Barme.

- From Ardent : walk down the road. Near the waterfall of Ardent, climb right the path to chalets de Barme.

- From Bassachaux collar : take the path on the south side of the Four crest direction Aup Couti (don't follow the crest). You reach the comb on the east of the Pointe de la Chavache. Here, don't climb to the collar but take the path down on the left to Barme chalets.

Route Description

From the Barme chalets climb in north-western direction to the destroyed chalets of Ptecro through a deep vegetation. From here follow the evident south ridge of Pointe de la Chavache easy to the eastern summit. and then the crest to the western summit.
You can walk down to the chalets de Ptecro direct from the western summit.
