Pumori up close | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] | |||
The top 2000ft of Pumo Ri as seen from about 18200ft on Kala Pattar. It was a very beautiful day, but wind gusts of 25-35 mph were common, making it an interesting excersize in balancing, lol. Willy Benegas told me that Pumori is a VERY dangerous mountain due to the steepness, the severe avalanche dangers, and high winds capable of just plain blowing a climber off. The mountain claims 1 in 7 who challenge it. Everest only claims about 1 in 11 ascenders... nice, huh? April 2007. |
