Puppet Pass or Carol Col

In the "old" days one had to hunt for this small but very high pass; now it is thouroughly described in Steve Roper's Timberline High Route, and for the first time in 6 I found garbage up here this summer. Who and why would anyone do that?? Located NW of Desolation Lake this pass has a glorious view of many lakes, and Merriam Pk, along with 7 Gables and the Gemini. At least its descent is no where near as easy as some have described...
