Bushwhack from West Rosebud trail head to pond below Ram lake. Then climbed along western side of Chicken creek drainage aiming for South east corner of plateau. I had a pair of binoculars and used them at about 10500 to scout a route up a chimney that allows a final scramble up and around to the western side of the ridge for the final 50 feet or so to the plateau at 11000. It was very slow going and ended up being 15 hours car to car. I had wanted to tag Pyramid BM while I was up there, but am glad I didn't because the final 60 minutes of bushwhack in the dark was not fun.
Route Climbed: Via Ram Lake Bushwhack Date Climbed: September 2004
We began our climb from the Rosebud Trailhead and bushwhacked for about 5 miles to make our camp at Ram Lake. This was by far the most difficult part of the climb. Then we ascended the talus slopes on the east side of the mountain to the plateau. From there it is a quick scramble to the top. The views were great. I recommend the climb if you are looking for a lack of crowds. Also trying to traverse to Mount Wood on the same day turned out to be much slower going than we had expected. Luckily, however, we made it up Pyramid.
