Rain, Smoke, and Spaniards  Sucess!

Me and my bud hiked up the well-maintained trail in the rain, got to the summit and met a friendly Spanish couple traveling the world, looking to go to Alaska :) Drove by an uncontrolled fire, which surprised us due to this regions history of precipitation. Saw some firefighting airplanes filling up with water from Lake Crescent to combat the fire from the sky. 90 minutes up, 50 minutes down, closer to 7.8 miles RT, well worth the dayhike!

Great Hike !   Sucess!

Beautiful views of the lake below and a great hike all the way. The landslide was not an issue as the trail was thin but more than adequate.

Pyramid  Sucess!

Nice forest and some views on top. This would be a good offseason peak when it the washout is dry. I'm surprised the NPS doesn't build a more long-term detour for the trail. Perhaps they feel the slope is not stabilized yet and a trail above or below could be wiped out anyway.

Nice Trail! Nice Views!  Sucess!

This is a great trail... except for the landslide traverse. Some workers had "repaired" the path through the traverse earlier during the year, but it is only a matter of time before Mother Nature completely reclaims the slope. Paul and I were able to walk across the traverse, while Kevin had to use his hands. The views from the summit cabin are great to the east and south.
