Ski trip with V. Fun skiing from the summit, heavy snow lower down, last couple hundred feet dry as a bone...

Spring ski tour. Ascended via Horsetail Falls. Descent via Rocky canyon. Upper south slope was a little boney but you could still ski a continuous line down the south slope from the summit.

first ascent was via Horsetail Falls, and by far the hardest climb i had done at that point; out of 7 to start, only 4 of us made it, and we all ran out of water just after we reached the falls on the way back. second ascent was via Rocky Canyon 7/15/07. we attempted to ascend after the first snow on 12-23-07 but were shut down by waist-deep powder and dwindling daylight.

We started from the TH at the south end of Fallen Leaf Lake, traversed off-trail and summited via the east ridge of Pyramid Peak. Descended southward and hit on Rocky Canyon Trail back to Twin Bridges TH.

Hiked up from the Lyons Creek Trailhead. Pretty strenuous day, lots of mosquitoes on my way back to the car as the light faded.

Climbed the West ridge from Lake Sylvia, then descended the Northeast face to the notch below. Then Downclimbed onto the west side of the Crystal Range crest from the notch (a small class 3 section), and began our traverse over to Mt. Agassiz along the ridge. Nobody around all day (surprising considering it was Labor Day weekend), some clouds and wind but overall a great day!

Started our hike up HorseTail Falls at 0615. The falls were incredible. Then scrambled our way up to Pyramid Peak. We reached the summit around 1100. Smoke made our visibility poor. Spent about an hour at the summit, then headed out.

Got off to a rough start, but it was a great hike overall. The route map I had showed the trail head on the west side of the creek. Spent a half-hour bouldering in the creek before I finally came across the trail on the east side. The meadows along the creek are beautiful and view from the top is awesome.

If you dont mind some off-trail scrambling and bushwacking... this signature peak is one to remember, you can see it from everywhere, and it's quite a rewarding climb

Great day! Very mellow and pretty hike to Lake Sylvia. Wild flowers and butterflies galore. Not a bad little scramble from the lake to the summit. Gorgeous views all around from the summit. Lake Aloha is especially lovely. Can see some charred hilltop toward Fallen Leaf Lake from the Angora Fire (started June 24, 2007).

Hiked this route with Made in Tahoe. In spite of the 4000-foot elevation gain I didn't find this route to be as hard as I expected. This canyon is a botanical wonder, and the weather was in the low seventies and it was breezy. In fact, the wind was so strong on the final talus ridge that it was hard to stand up. The wind was so loud I wished I'd had ear plugs. My back actually started to hurt from bracing muscularly against the wind. But it was calm on the summit and the marmots were ravenous (no, I didn't feed them). What a view! I'll be back up there soon!

Easy to follow trail up to the peak, easy 1/2 day hike. 2.5 hrs from base to summit. Last day before the snow falls. Reno Hangover crew!

Didn't expect so many people up there this late in the season. This was probably my last chance for a trip before the snow sets in and I'd been wanting to go up Pyramid for a while. It was quite windy early in the day, though the wind decreased drastically shortly after I hit the summit. Definitely a brutal elevation gain, but this "use trail" was better than a lot of "official trails".
