| Was planning to do French and Casco today, but realized too late that my car might not make it to the trailhead. Since I did not climb Quail when I climbed Hope back in June, it became Plan B. | |

| Went up an obvious trail that ascended below the ridge line. It is apparently a very well worn game trail. The tracks appeared to be mountain goats. It kept me below the ridge and out of the sun. The trail leads you just under the summit by about 50 vertical feet. I returned via the ridge. | |

| Did this from the Sheeps gulch trailhead that leads up to Hope Pass. I took some family and friends on this climb and Hope still had a large snowfield that would require crampons and axe to cross safely, so we opted for Quail instead. Nice day, and was fun to have a mid-morning snack at the cabin on top of a Colorado 13er. | |

| This peak was a nice aerobic hike, the old mining cabins near the summit are surprisingly durable at that altitude and so high up! | |

| Did Quail in high winds after a fun climb of the Hopeful Couloir on Hope. Tagged the summit cairn and headed down as a storm was approaching that brought some light snow. | |

| Solo up the West Slopes route from Sheep Gulch. Damp morning with some snow showers on the summit, but the route was almost totally dry of winter snow, no snowshoes needed anymore. | |

| 10/8/06 - The trail to Hope Pass is very efficient and makes for a quick trip. Climbed Hope and then Quail in a fall snow squall. 6/6/09 - Fought 40 mph winds from Hope Pass to the summit after climbing Hopeful Couloir on Mount Hope. | |

| I was able to hike Quail mountain a week after I backed off the traverse from Hope. Was really itching to complete the duo. After an afternoon of bad weather and hanging out in Leadville, the clouds started to clear and I made my way to the trailhead. Made the trip to the summit and back in two hours and twenty-eight minutes. What a great weekend! | |

| I had great weather and enjoyed the summit of Quail. It has one of the most weathered log cabins I've ever seen, all the logs are bleached and smooth, quite impressive. | |

| Camped near Colorado Trail near Vicksburg. Elk walked through camp near dusk. Coyotes sang in the night. A steep climb to the Hope/Quail saddle and an easy ascent of the West Face. Windy. | |

| Approached from Sheep Gulch. Very fun hike. Still a lot of lingering snow patches up to Hope Pass along the trail, but everything was consolidated. | |

| Fun mountain, especially in addition to Mount Hope. Great views and lots of wildlife. Had to avoid south slopes below Hope Pass, however: still way too much snow. The west slopes of Quail Mountain were completely bare. | |
