Earliest I have ever hiked a 14er. There was still quite a bit of snow on the summit. We were afraid we'd be posthollng through the snow but it was still firm enough that wasn't really a problem. Sure made it fun coming down. Just sit down and away you go!!!

It was a hot, sunny day. At the summit people were quite comfortable just in shorts and t-shirts. Beautiful panoramic views. Ran out of water on the way down because it was so hot. Now I carry much more water than I think necessary because running out of water, even for a short time, is no fun.

Kelly and I started hiking up on compacted snow. The day was cloudy and windless.

Kelly got AMS just 20 minutes below the summit. So she started heading down while I ran up to the summit. Spent two minutes at the top, and I headed back to catch up with Kelly 5 minutes later.

Tent-camped near the trailhead. 4:30A 44-deg Breakfast...6:20A on the trail, 11:45A Summit. Not bad for 59 and my first 14er! And you wouldn't believe the weather elements we had on the descent at the long ridge after the summit: Thunder/ rain/ hail/dense fog....but it finally all passed overhead. I did this climb with my cousin, 'Slow-but-Steady', who has completed 26 of the 52 CO 14ers. I am hooked forever! Planning our climb for next year!

This was my first fourteener. I was 10 years old, and it got me hooked for the rest of my life. A great first climb, I basically climbed it on a few M&Ms. Good route.

I understand completely the need to preserve and restore fragil vegetation on heavily travelled 14NRS, but it should be noted that the new sustainable trail on Quandary with it's many rock steps(very impressive construction indeed)is harder on old knees, not to mention that the new trail keeps you high on rock, with no place to bail out, for a long period during storms.

My brother and I scaled Quandary via the West Ridge. A great class 3 with spectacular views! A little too crowded up top though...

Due to a very busy year, this was my first 14er. Great hike, tons of people on the trail due to the holiday weekend, and great weather! Clouds descended about 11AM but cleared away before turning dark.

This is my 2nd attempt at Quandary, the first done Nov 2005 when 60mph winds threatened to turn me into a kite before my friend and I turned back. Not a great day then.

Completed my first solo hike up a Colorado 14er on Quandary. Left the trailhead at 7:10, summited at 9:25, and spent a luxurious 40 minutes on top enjoying the blue skies and beautiful views. The descent took an hour and 45 minutes, so overall, this hike was fun and short- highly recommended for 14er newbies.

Did a night hike to watch the Perseid meteors, summitting between dawn and sunrise. My third time on this peak, and finally got some solitude by hiking under the stars--which were fabulous.
