| Fun hike. A little strenuous for me (newbie - 2nd 14er) but we took short breaks whenever we lost our breath and kept plodding along. Views are worth the effort. Played around a bit on the west slope cliffs, but they're still probably a bit out of my league - for now. Not too many folks on the summit and when the clouds moved in everyone split and we had some time alone on the peak. Paid the piper by getting snowed-on on the way down (in August!) but at least it didn't get us wet. Topped off the day with tasty ribs at Breckenridge BBQ in town; highly recommended. | |

| Slept in my pickup at the trail head. Started climbing at sun up. Had an uneventful climb. Except for its length, this is the easest of all. | |

| This is a fun short route and the hanging valley with the cabin ruins is one of the most beautiful places I've seen in the mountains. | ||

| Sure, it's all 3rd class if you're clever. Just like it's all A1, until you fall. Don't be afraid though, it's such a fun puzzle, and the summit appears so unexpectedly. | |

| As I said in the "more info" section, IMHO, this is the ONLY way to do this mountain. The Wheeler (east) ridge is just a long, boring, cattle drive of hikers, if you ask me. The west ridge, on the other hand, offers solitude and a much more challenging (or as Roach says - "sporting" - I love that) option. Now, so there's no confusion, DON'T get on this ridge if you are expecting a hike. THIS IS NOT A HIKE. The last 1/4 of this ridge consists of 4(?) large, loose rock towers which must be negotiated - and route finding is CRITICAL. Getting off route on this ridge leads you into any of a number of very steep, very VERY loose death-trap gullies. Take care and be sure that the way you are going is absolutely the easiest way before you go. The last tower on the ridge is negotiated by doing an airy class 3-ish pitch for about 30 feet directly up the southwest face. Not hard, but a fall will definately ruin your weekend. That said, the ridge is phenomenial if you take your time and can hold your own at route finding. If you're one of those who gets off route going to the mailbox, you should probably stay on the east ridge :) | ||

| Attempted to hike this 14er on November 4th but when I got to the trailhead I found that I had forgotten my hiking boots...DOH!!! So my Dad and I returned the following day and made the trek to the summit. This was my Dad's first 14er and my fifth. Weather was great and the trail was very easy to follow. Ate lunch on the summit. | |

| This was my first 14er. I think I am hooked. I now want to try the rest. It was a perfect day. Lightly scattered clouds and no threat of thunder storms. This is a great peak for your first attempt. It is easy enough that you should have no trouble making it up and crowded enough that going alone is no problem. | ||

| Quandry was the 1st of 5 fourteeners that my partner and I hiked in 5 days. The new trail is pretty nice, a real walk-up. The final slope to the summit is pretty stiff, though! Beautiful day and a ton of people on the route. | |

| I have climbed the east slopes route 4 times, once in the early summer with a some skiing on the way down and 3 times in winter. This peak is quite easy and has many hikers on it, however in winter you are lucky to see anyone at all! | |
