Question Mark Wall Buttress.

Question Mark Wall Buttress.

This photo shows the buttress near the top of Question Mark Wall while approaching from the west ridgeline. To the left is a 500 foot vertical drop into the Lone Peak Cirque, to the right is fairly exposed class 4 terrain dropping down to Dry Creek on the Alpine side. While I was up there I didn't have pro to continue up and over the buttress or rappel down to a ledge system about 50 feet on the north wall. I ended up downclimbing to the south from this point about 250 vertical feet, traversing more exposed class 4 terrain several hundred yards to the east, and then re-ascended topping out on the top of Question Mark Wall. Not the most conventional route up to the summit of Lone Peak to say the least, though it was fun to try at least once. October 11, 2012.
