Route Climbed: Clark Wall Date Climbed: Feb 15-16 2004
Climbed from the west on the ridge with peak 2719' on the 1974 clark lake quadrangle. Steep but doable. We camped in the wash but its possible to camp up on the ridge before it gets steep.
Route Climbed: Oven Ridge Date Climbed: August, 1977
My only summer ascent of this peak, we encountered temperatures well into the hundreds from our 4 am start until our 2 am return to the car. Keith Tasker and I each took 1.5 gallons of water, but we ran out on the way down, at 6 pm, around the second false summit.
When we reached the orange groves near the parking spot, unscrewed a sprinkler head and sucked water from the pipes. we were well into the retching-with-each swallow-of-a-sticky-throat stage of dehydration by that point.
Never has water tasted sooo good. I later entered the water treatment and distribution field as a profession.
