Rakaposhi mountain also known as Dumani Peak(Mother of Mist) is also one of the easy accessible peak being lying on the Karakorum highway Pakistan.
It is situated in the Nagar Valley approximately 100 km north of the city of Gilgit. Rakaposhi means "shining wall" in the local language. It is 27th highest in the world and 12th highest in Pakistan.Rakaposhi surrounded by famous glacier valleys, like, Biro, Barpu, Bagrot and Pissan surround the peak, it has 3 faces to climb, from South east face biro glacier Goglot Goh, valley from North West Pissan glacier from west Ghulmet face which is a long route to reach to the main summit.

Hasn't voted | In 1982 I admired this mountain from Baltit and en route from there back to Gilgit. It is the choicist peak outside of the Korakoram and Nanga Parbat from the Indus Valaley. | | Posted Nov 25, 2009 11:23 am |

Being a responsible member of this sensitive industry, I should say that the unrest is limited to areas.People who have been to Pakistan say it is safe to travel to major tourist attractions specially Gilgit Baltistan.
