Quite a mix of fixed pro is encountered on the Northeast Face route of Steins Pillar!! Some of it is courtesy of the original ascent party, circa 1950. The lag bolt in upper right corner was confirmed to have been placed by FA party in 1950 (saw these on P3, P5); two old pitons "stacked" (P5); two rusty pitons stacked and driven into an old bolt sleeve (P5); a rusty piton sticking halfway out of the bolt sleeve (P5); in center, a new looking bolt. These are interspersed among the "ancient" pro and reduce the seriousness of the route to probably an A1+ to A2 (October 30, 2004).

Some of those old rusty things look pretty scary - but nice pictures though! Also, is that an orange and blue color scheme I see on that biner? If so, it's mine. You can return it next week :)

	Hasn't voted	Thanks Jim. Yeah, don't want to take a fall onto one of these babies - some of them flexed quite a bit under my "dead" weight only. .....nice try....that's a blue/red/black/green color scheme :)

	Hasn't voted	Definitely guys, I'll bring all that stuff in so that we can all sit down and go through it. I'd recommend you both bringing large duffel bags to carry all that re-gained gear back.... :) Looking forward to that beer drinking session!!

	Hasn't voted	Well, I grew up in Peoria mostly and spent 4 years in Champaign in school(85-89). But I still have relatives in Champaign and usually still get there once a year or so. You live there or go to school there (or both)? Interesting. Should have a few things to talk about next week. (and yeah, they both suck really really really really bad this year.) :- (

Are you my brothers? Do we have the same mom? If so, I have a few Christmas gift ideas for you to get me. :- ) 12 years in Champaign?? That's a lot of Garcia's pizza, dude.
