Re: Standing on airThey're great as long as you don't stub your toes, but there's usually enough length in front to avoid that. You can't do much about dislodged rocks that roll onto your foot, though. But overall, they've worked out very well; I've used several pairs of sandals for hiking and climbing, but the Chacos by far have the best soles.

Same ReasonI love my sandals (normally worn with socks :)) for the same reason but I must admit they have toe bumpers.

Re: Same ReasonI once used a pair (Keen) that ws a cross between a sandal and a shoe. They were okay for climbing and protected the toes, but the grip was as good as the Chacos and they didn't stay tight for very long. Now I mostly use them for kayaking.

Re: Same ReasonActually, mine have just fallen apart and as I can't find anything like it available here these days, I think I'll give some thought to what you're wearinig although I'm afraid you have to have either keen eyesight or a toenail factory to feel comfortable.
