Red Thistle on route to Charleston Peak

Red Thistle on route to Charleston Peak

This Red Thistle (Cirsium nidulum) was growing in the drainage ways above Big Falls. These type of thistles are very common in the Spring Mountains. You will see them on every route up to about 11,000 feet, especially in the areas disturbed by avalanches. I took this photo on route to Charleston Peak. Enjoy my slideshow of the whole route: Charleston Peak via Big Falls We descended via the normal trail. Spring Mountains, Nevada. June 2007.
