Mind the weather!

This mountain has defeated me with snow on 2 occasions, even in late may! Don't underestimate it.

Nemisis

At age 11 I completed this top with my father from joachimalm. At age 27 I returned to the mountain from Weissbriach, but she beat me this time and I didn't attempt the risks on the brittle calk-stone mountain. Don't underestimate insidious nature of the Reisskofel. It is very risky and demanding for hiking. DANGEROUS MOUNTAIN.

Reisskofel.  Sucess!

When I was a kid, my father did not allow me to climb Reisskofel. Too dangereus. But I never lost my desire. In 2003, Twentyfive years later I came back to mountain and climbed it. My father was right it is not a playground for children.

Route Climbed: North route (E.T. Compton Hütte) Date Climbed: July 2004  Sucess!

I started in Berg in Drautal at the first day of my holiday. I drove as fare as I could and walked from my car till Pleiss Alm (1h). From there I descent till the E.T. Compton Hütte. When I was there it started to rain, after a few beer's I saw that the wether was already better sow I left the big backpack in the hütte and walked further with a little (light) backpack on the north route. When I was on the Kl. Reisskofel it started again to rain. But I was already sow far that I couldn't go down without being summited. 1,5h later I was on the with snow covered summit. After a verry risky descent I returned to the Compton Hütte. For all the people that have the plan to go to the summit I want to say. This is NOT A EASY mountain to go to (on the north route).
