A bitch to gain on in the winter!  Sucess!

This is where I learned that you must take care of your crampons or they will rust!

From the service road  Sucess!

My son and I rode our bikes up the service road. Very mild climb to Frog Pond, then got steeper and required some hike-a-biking. Left my bike at the no bikes sign for the last half mile to the summit. Amazingly, there must have been 100,000 butterflies on that last half mile of trail, all heading towards the summit. And not one of them ever hit me, they have a great sense of direction. Came down and then took the bikes up to the towers and rode down from there. Top part was a bit rough and loose, bottom part was fairly smooth and very fast. Up to the summit in 1:30, back to the bikes in 10 minutes. From the towers to the car took 11 and a half minutes for the 4.2 miles. Super fun, and a big knee and leg saver!

Good conditioning hike  Sucess!

Easy climb; steady and consistent along what's essentially a forest service road. There are much more interesting hikes out there, but a good workout -- and probably great to snowshoe in winter.

Quick summit  Sucess!

I reached Relay Peak's summit very fast. It took me only 1 hour and 20 minutes to hike from Mount Rose Summit, with 5 miles and 1500 feet of elevation gain. I ran 1/4 of the way.
