Ridge Route from Shorty's

Ridge Route from Shorty's

This is the route we took from the Canyon up the first ridge. Some guidebooks suggest going farther W up canyon, then doing a ravine/talus slog. The route shown went up a nice, firm ridge and intersected a nice, switchbacked and level (side-to-side) pack trail. Saw a use trail of sorts all the way to the intersection with Mahogany trail at ~10k'(often just distinct by boot-prints in dust). Grid is UTM (1 km square) relative to nad27 datum.

Re: Nice job, HWS!

actually was a fairly pleasant ridge walk -- though the last 800' (vertical) to the trail are a bit obnoxious.
