What a great shot, worth to be the pic of the week. The colours are magic and the clouds behind looks really great!!

The rocks look good, but the sky is even better, adds real drama to an otherwise static scene, love it

The colors we see depend a lot upon the ambient light, and yes, when I took the shot they really were that color. A few minutes later the sun (and clouds) had moved and that super-saturated color was gone!

never seen it glow quite that much even at sunset. sorry - not trying to nitpick/be anal, just thought this shot had some postprocessing done on it. either way - artistic license IMHO.

No offense taken. All I did was crop a bit - nothing else.

Shots like this - and they're few and far between - are why I keep my camera (Nikon D80) handy most of the time. Getting a dramatic photo like this periodically is one of the things which keeps me outdoors so much.

thanks for the patient answers Mike. Indeed the shot looks a lot better on my laptop screen. Very nice catch (esp. like the sky). cheers.
