Barr Trail up Rocky Mountain  Sucess!

Great workout climbing those switchbacks up Rocky Mountain. Always love the view from up there. Next time, I'll do the incline.

Route Climbed: Longs Ranch Road Date Climbed: October 2004  Sucess!

I sometimes go up to the top of the incline using Longs Ranch Road. It puts you almost at the summit of Rocky Mountain. The only time i got all the way up, there was fog below, but I could see Pikes Peak above me. Truly lovely summit. On the way down i bushwacked towards Mt. Manitou and hit Longs that way and then back.

Great route if you don't want to see anyone. Longs is very steep.

Route Climbed: From Mt. Manitou - bushwacked down to Barr Date Climbed: August 29, 2005  Sucess!

Summited from Mt. Manitou. The farthest southeast summit was really fun with a difficult finish to actually stand on the summit boulder. A Class 4 move with 15' or so of exposure. Great fun!

Route Climbed: Incline Date Climbed: 17 Sep 2005  Sucess!

My 9-year old and 12-year old have been bugging me to take them hiking, so I took them to Rocky. We had originally planned on doing the Barr Trail route, but after they saw the Incline, they wanted to do that. Took them an hour and 20 minutes, but after a break at the top of the Incline, they were ready to make the summit. Great climb and it was my kids' first summit!

Route Climbed: Different than posted Date Climbed: 29 July 2005  Sucess!

Funny that I had done Rocky Mountain a couple of times before in June and July, but on the 29th, I was looking to summit Mount Manitou to the north. I had printed out a map from the InclineClub website which described some J-pipes sticking out of the ground. Guess they missed a J-pipe (it was missing from the map) and I got turned around. I ended up bushwacking Rocky Mountain from the north. Even though I had been up to the summit twice before, I didn't recognize it! Must have been too early in the morning, and besides, I had just sucked wind for 48 minutes on the Incline just before. Took pictures, and it wasn't until that night that I realized that I summitted Rocky Mountain again! Jeez. It's a great little mountain, though, and one I'll do again. Thanks for putting up a great web page!

Route Climbed: Incline Date Climbed: Many Times  Sucess!

I've done the incline many times. It's a great training spot. I've only been to the top of Rocky once, though.

Route Climbed: Via Incline Date Climbed: 10 June 05  Sucess!

Started incline 0530, completed in approx 45 minutes. Took break at top then continued to Rocky Mountain Summit in approx 20 more minutes. Very narrow trails, seem to be rarely used. Last few feet scrambling up rocks, amazing views although it was very cloudy and cool. Saw a mule deer on way to summit.

Route Climbed: Barr Trail Date Climbed: Feb 14, 2004  Sucess!

Climbed this via Barr Trail to No Name Creek (8.5 miles and 3500' gain), then up the road to the experimental forest area. I ended up missing this turnoff and going up Barr about a mile too far. Did Manitou first, then postholed across the broad ridge to Rocky's summit. I will have to come back and do the more exciting sub-summits. Nice views up there.

Route Climbed: Barr Trail Up/Incline Down Date Climbed: 4/23/05  Sucess!

Great day finding my to the top with my sister Carrie. For a 48 year old nun, she did a pretty good job.
