| MarcoPesce57 | Extremely high winds Date Climbed: Jan 23, 2013 | |
| Made the trek from trailhead on 01/23/13. Snow packed the whole way and ice rinks in several spots. Carried a 30# pack with all the winter essentials. Did not need snowshoes so I left them on the trail at timberline. Wind was extreme as I got closer to the saddle. Snow drifts were 3-4 feet deep but one can work your way around them. Add about 45 minutes to your plans for this. On the saddle by noon. Wind was 55-60 mph and caused difficulty just standing. Decided to turn back at 12,400' as it was a challenge just to keep upright and I was hiking solo. 6.7 miles roundtrip from Trailhead to saddle. Great hike. I will summit someday! | ||

| Legs felt dead, so I didn't think I'd make it. Didn't try at first - just made it a photo shoot. But kept going and noticed that my pace wasn't as bad as I thought. When I finally saw the saddle, I figured I'd go for it. With Okie. Saw a few people along the way, but no one above the saddle. | ||

| Finally, I broke the curse of two empty-handed weekends. I was totally fatigued from a broken bone, business travel and living for a chunk of the week a few hundred feet above sea level, but I pushed my sorry ass up this mountain with Angel the dog. The views of Evans and Bierstadt were just awesome. This was a nice, quiet solo outing with no one on the mountain except for me and my dawg. | ||

| Up the ~5mi/4,280' to the top in under 3 hrs by 10:20a. Spectacular views in all directions and nice & cool/windy at the top. A good first 13er and as a prep for 14ers. Enjoyed heading down to Roosevelt Lakes after for lunch with our group while a friend added "Epaulie" and Epaulet for a brutal slog out and back up Rosalie. | ||

| This is a great hike. Some snow fields on Rosalie's flank, easily bypassed. The view towards Bierstadt and Evans is killer. | ||

| A real grind up Tanglewood to the saddle. No trail up from there, pure route finding. Spectacular views of Bierstadt, the Sawtooth, and Evans. | ||

| Failed attempt on 1/7/07 from Deer Creek Campground, turned around very high up due to wind (could barely stand up). Made it on our 2nd attempt the next month and managed to include "Epaulie" & Epaulet on a slightly less windy day. 15.6 miles & 6100 vertical feet made for a LONG winter day hike. | ||

| After all the times I have climbed Bierstadt, I finally got around to summitting the peak named for his wife. We started from Deer Creek trailhead, followed Tanglewood Creek up to the saddle and then up the east ridge. | ||

| 1-2 feet of snow below treeline. Did not need snowshoes as it hadnt snowed in a few weeks. Ridge above treeline was mostly free of snow. While very warm at lower elevations, the last 1/4 mile was bitterly cold and windy. Nice views of Denver. | ||

| Steven Cross | Tanglewood Trail ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 29, 2006 | |
| Attempted this one before work. Had to be back at my car by 2:00 to make it to work on time. Started at 7:30 after having some difficult time finding the trail. Got on the peak at 10:57 and back down at 1:30. Six hour round trip. Only got to spend 15 minutes on top before heading back down. Great hike, and slighty more popular 13er to do. | ||
