| Was foggy on top and could barely see anything. Wandered off the trail a bit, into private property. Ended up doing a total of 24.68 miles. Going back again via Sunol to sign the log on the peak. | ||

| Ran/Hiked the Ohlone trail from Sunol to Rose Peak, though used the Camp Ohlone road/backpack trail to shave a little time and climbing. Time to Rose Peak was 2:05. Knackered on the way down and took nearly 2 full hours for a total of 4:05 including 10 minute summit break and 5-10 minute detour to Maggie's for water. Two questions for the page: 1. The detour through "insult gulch" around mile 7-8 feels unnecessary. Anyone know why the trail does not follow the obvious route of the ridge? 2. Anyone drink Maggie's campsite water untreated? A fellow hiker once told me it's safe but the park signs indicate otherwise. Best, GWM | ||

| Absolutely perfect day for a hike. Cool with clear skies made the trek really enjoyable. Followed Camp Ohlone Road to trail to Backpack Camp then followed ridge (Ohlone Trail) all the way to the summit. On the way back down I took the trail labeled "Bluff Trail" on the Ohlone Wilderness map to connect back to Camp Ohlone Road. Ran into some land owners who said the SF water district land was closed back there and I was risking a ticket, but the Ohlone Map (the one you get as the permit) says just to stay on trail in SFWD land, it says nothing about it being closed to foot traffic. Figured they were just saying things to keep people out. There was no signage saying otherwise either. Until I got to the gate on Camp Ohlone Road as I was hiking out where there *is* a sign saying no trespassing, etc. So not sure what the 'rules' are - if you care about those kind of things and want to hike this route you might want to check with a ranger when you get the map. | ||

| Honest I do have some lamentations on those people, East Bay Residents, who never go there or at least do a hike to get on Mission Peak. It is one of most beautiful places in the world, I tell you. It took me 16 hours to complete the whole Ohlone Trail in a single day. It is knee wrecker trail but yet very rewarding. | ||

| Beautiful green hills with clear skies for miles. Cows watched my wife and me as we took about 7 total hours to complete the trip. I disagree with the "anticlimactic" aspect of the peak; we found it quite nice. Nice view of the Sierras and surrounding ranges too. | ||

| Good trip through the Ohlone wilderness trail with my younger bro. Started in Livermore at Del Valle, hike goes uphill steep and fast. Not much time to warm up, just get after it... Camped out at Maggie's, killer sunset up there with a bit of a haze from recent fires, but not too bad on the lungs. How many cows are on this trail?! The one with the white mohawk was giving me the stink eye. Thought he might charge. Would have made a tasty steak. | ||

| Another bay area 'peak' I've done over and over in past years. Clear but windy today, gusts to 35-40mph on the ridges. ~20 miles / 3800' gain in 6 hours 20 minutes. | ||

| Did the 28 mile Ohlone Wilderness Trail in two days, starting from Stanford Ave. A really fantastic hike. However, clouds rolled in on day 2 and the view from the summit were nil. Still, it was quite eerie (and cold) up there, with dozens of knarley oaks surrounding us in the dense fog. The total silence of the fog, with the exception of drops of condensation falling from the oaks, was a unique experience. Will return in spring and climb from Sunol. Was able to see the beautiful landscape from Sunol to the backpacker's camp, but pretty much missed the vistas from the backpacker's camp to Rose Peak. | ||

| Starting from Geary Rd and the Horse barns, this hike rounds out at just over 20mi. There is a lot of exposure, and almost no water after the springtime, so be sure to BYOS(shade). This is a great hike to train for long trips, it offers distance, climbs, and off-season accesability. | ||
