Rough weather is waiting...

Rough weather is waiting...

Rough weather is waiting around the corner. These and other weird looking clouds were racing over the sky the whole day. Forming, disappearing, re-forming and changing at a high pace.
Late the following night a violent blizzard arrived.
Photo shot from in between El Fraile and El Muerto, on the way to Ojos del Salado.

Re: Wooooooooooow...

That days I was walking fast. I was more than a bit concerned with the weather. Those cloud formations were really ominous and it was clear a big old mother of a storm was approaching. It hit and the next day climbing (Ojos del Salado) was one of the most intense of my life.

Weather with you...

You seem to have a neck for photographing strange cloud patterns. Or do they follow you?

Re: Weather with you...

That day I encountered some of the strangest I've ever seen and they changed so fast all the time.

They follow me I think.

:-)

Here's another strange formation.

Re: Could be the start of...

Not sure how it is in that area, but I guess that's a possible theory.

WOW!!!

That one cloud looks like an upside-down mountain. Instead of hiking fast that day, I think I would have been on my knees praying for forgiveness.

Re: WOW!!!

:-)

Yes, the cloud formations were scary.

Combined with the violent ice cold wind squalls it created a doomsday atmosphere.

Re: Meteorology lesson

Thanks for the comment John.

Your teacher would've been in paradise that day if he had seen all those clouds.

Thanks Alex.

I was too and it was pretty clear what was coming up and I got in a hurry to reach a good place to camp for the day.
