| This area is beautiful in early summer with many wildflowers. I saw someone skiing down the persistent snow patch to the right of the use trail. My second time up at the summit, I plan to return soon. | |

| A glorious day in late October. Decided to take a solo hike and check out the Crescent Moon Couloir route before winter. Considering there was no snow, it was difficult to get an idea of the route without climbing down into it. However, climbing down it did not look like such a good idea. Instead, I just enjoyed the beautiful day! * Climbed the Crescent Moon Couloir on Cinco de Mayo, 2006...great climb and ski descent! * Climbed the left fork of the Crescent Moon Couloir: March 24,2008, with ski descent via West Ridge. * Climbed the CM Couloir, again: March 27, 2009, with ski descent. Good conditions inside the couloir. Had some sluff brought down on me from a skier descending while I was about half-way up the couloir, but nothing too serious. Beautiful day, and great unconsolidated snow in the bowls below! | |

| Dave Kiene and I were aiming for Mt. Tallac, but the road was closed for the marathon so we could not get to the trailhead (!!!). Instead we decided to head to Carson Pass and Round Top. This was my first summer-time trip to the area after two winter trips earlier this year. Beautiful scenery! The entire route is Class 2 with the exception of the last 15-20' to the top of the East summit block (Class 3). On the summit I've met two NY-ers who brought their skis... hoping to ski down the "glacier"... in early October... Hmmm... I tried to go down from the summit via Crescent Moon Couloir, but it was filled with loose rock and ice patches. Will be back to scale it in the winter. Fun half-day outing! ~1hr30m to the summit from Carson Pass at easy pace. | |

| Great hike. The views were excellent if a bit hazy out. Overall I'd higly recommend this peak, and can't wait to do it again. | |

| An enjoyable summit, which was teeming with crowds even on this (admittedly beautiful) early November day. Headed over to bag The Sisters and Fourth of July bump, I mean peak, afterwards. Came back to climb it again with Bob in April 2004 as part of a ridge traverse from Kirkwood Ski Area around to Carson Pass. We descended Crescent Moon Couloir--a bit spicy without an ice axe. In retrospect that was probably foolish, but it was great fun anyway. | |

| What a great trip!!!!! The couloir was fantastic and offered just the right level of scariness (which wasn't much) considering I hadn't donned crampons in two years AND I was climbing solo. Snow was a little soft, but for a snow route, this time of year...duh! Go check out my trip report if you wanna hear more!!! | ||

| We took a nice ski tour. Climbed to the saddle between the west ridge of Round Top and the east side of The Sisters and skied down into the bowl above Round Top Lake, and down to Winnemucca Lake. Very nice setting for a day tour. Didn't see anyone in the backcountry on a tuesday. Snow sucked: alternating between pure ice, breakable crust, and mashed potatoes. Still waiting for it to corn up for the spring. Trip Report on my website. | |

| Reached the summit on March 2. A gorgeous day trip from the SF Bay Area - read about it in my SP Trip Report. I came back to ski the couloir on May 26, 2002. I reached the West Summit on that trip but decided to focus on the ski descent of the couloir rather than scrambling over to the East Peak on that trip. | A blustery winter day as I raced a coming storm to the summit of Round Top. Ok, it wasn't much of a race, the storm didn't start till around midnight, but it sure seemed like it was a comin' with high winds and temperatures in the high twenties. | |
