Approach
There are many approaches. Here are a couple of them.
The Snowmass Creek Trailhead from the town of Snowmass (not Snowmass Village). Buckskin Pass from the Maroon lake trailhead near Aspen.
Route Description
From the Campground hike around Snowmass Lake on a trail. Hike up left or right of the scree slope. Hiking up the scree is very difficult. Hike up the snowfield once you reach it. Head toward a round protrusion below Snowmass Mountain's southeast ridge about halfway between the Snowmass Mountain and Hagerman Peak saddle. Once on the ridge climb northwest along it to the summit. This ridge requires Class 3 scrambling on very solid rock.
Essential Gear
. Crampons and an ice axe are recommended. It can be climbed without an ice axe but makes it more difficult without one
