ApproachThe trail starts at the west side of the Pacific Crest trail parking area. It rises over a small ridge then heads southeast losing some elevation along the way. At the head of Noble canyon the trail rises up to Noble lake. Total distance about 3.5 miles.
From the Noble Canyon Trail head it is approximately 4.5 miles to the junction of the PCT then another mile to Noble lake.
At the inlet stream there is an unmaintained trail along the stream east a couple of hundred yards to a smaller lake. Work around south of this lake to find the climbers trail that takes you along the base of some crags to the SE and up to a saddle between the crag and an unnamed peak 10824. The main uphill work starts here.
Route DescriptionFrom the saddle gained below peak 10824 follow the climbers trails northeast along the ridge toward the summit of 10824. There is a tremendous amount of scree, be careful of your footing. You will gain a small saddle just left of the summit of 10825, it is at this point you will see Highland Peak to the north. From here contour to the northwest and then down about 200 ft. to a saddle between Highland and peak 10824. Head northeast up a class 2 scramble. The rock makes it almost like walking up stairs. There is a false summit ahead of you. Move to the right around it and then up another 100 yards or so to the actual summit. If you decide to go over this false summit it is a very short class 3-4 with a good deal of exposure. The final summit may need a couple of hand holds.
Essential GearThe only gear needed is some good footwear. Take plenty of water. Noble Lake and a small spring fed stream about 1.25 mile down the trail from Noble Lake are the only easily accesable water sources. Be sure to filter your water as there is cattle grazing in the area.
