Approach

From Refugio Elola go upstairs towards Portilla (gap) del Venteadero. Once at the foot of the Western face of Ameal de Pablo, cross to the left (South).

Route Description

Hike through the slope at the bottom of Cuchillar (ridge) de Ballesteros up to Portilla de los Cobardes. Cross SW face of Almanzor to the right (30 meters) and then climb as said at Portilla del Crampón Route.

Essential Gear

Despite the fact that Portilla de los Cobardes is the easiest route in winter because of the less steep slopes, crampons and ice axe are necessary from November to May and a rope could be an aid.
