Approach

This is the normal route up Princeton. Follow the directions to the Mt. Princeton road on the main page. If you have a jeep you can park at 11,000 ft. and hike 3 miles to the summit. If you have a 2WD car then park at 8900 ft. and walk an extra 3.5 miles west up the road.

Route Description

Continue west on the jeep road to 12,000 ft. and turn right on the trail, crossing a small ridge and continue west. The last 1.5 miles of trail from here is on talus on a north facing ridge with bad footing. In Roach's Colorado's Fourteeners it says to leave the trail at 12,700-12,900 ft. and head up the summit, but there is now a vague, steep trail on talus to the summit as well.

Essential Gear

Standard hiking stuff (summer).
