Approach
From Sajama village head northwards on the Rio Aychunta, which then tends eastwards towards the centre of Sajama's western face.
Base camp is at 4800m, situated below the spur of the west glacier.
Route Description
From base camp, head East south-east to the base of the glacier and follow it up to the shoulder of the SW ridge at about 6000m (A high camp at around 5800 is possible above the bend in the glacier.)
Time to summit approximately 8 to 10 hours.
No particular difficulties but slopes of up to 55 degrees and high winds possible.
Essential Gear
Crampons essential, and at least one ice axe.
Parties should rope as their experience and conditions dictate.
