Approach

Approach the NE-ridge by taking the lifts to Mittel Allalin (3.454 m.) From here follow the tracks to the skiarea. Follow the Skilift up to the end. From here, the NE-ridge starts.

Route Description

As for most routes on Allalin, start from Station Mittel Allalin (3.454 m). At first, cross the ski piste (also summer skiing) and follow the Skilift up to the end. From here, the NE-ridge starts.

The first part is about 40 degrees steep. Mostly icy. No snow because of the exposure of wind. After about 100/150 meter higher, the slope is becoming less steep. From here straight ahead towards the crevasses. To pass these, there are 2 options.
1. Pass the crevasses on the right side, where the crevasse stops most of the time.
2. Often possible, pass the crevasses by snowbridges. The several times I climbed this mountain, the crevasses were not that large and the snowbridges were large/firm. Passing them this way was no problem.

Shortly after the crevasses the slope becomes steeper. Again up to 40/45 degrees. Most of the time this part is covered with snow. No Ice. Climb a little bit to the left to reach the summit.

Return by the normal route.

Essential Gear

Gear you shouldn't forget are:
Crampons
Ice axe (not extreme). Necessary during all season.
Rope (for safety). Especially climbers who haven't been climbing a lot of ice before, use a rope at the first and last part of the route. The middle part is "easy".
A few icescrews. Mostly we don't use them for a full belay, but for running belay.

Miscellaneous Info

If you have information about this route that doesn't pertain to any of the other sections, please add it here.
