Approach
Take Trail #56 from Cholla Day Use Area up to a big boulder that forms a natural roof. The trail splits towards The Hand here and it's obvious which way to go (straight towards The Hand). The route starts in a 4th class gully on the southeast side of The Hand.
Route Description
3 pitches. Pitch 1- Climb the gully to a notch between the Hand and a smaller peak called the Thumb. There is a good belay ledge on the Hand side on the notch. Pitch 2- Climb past a piton and 3 bolts to a nice belay ledge with 2 bolts called Chicken Ledge. Pitch 3 - Climb along the exposed ridge past 4 bolts to the rappel anchors on the summit.
Descent - Rappel 150' from the rappel anchors on the summit using 2 ropes.
Essential Gear
2 ropes, 6 quick draws. Maybe some medium nuts and cams.
