Approach

The trailhead for the Bush Mountain Trail is located at the Dog Canyon Campground. See the Getting There section on the main page for directions.

Route Description

For those who want an isolated trail where you will meet few people, this is the trail to take; however, the distance to the summit is about 2 miles further than it is from the Pine Springs Campground. The hike is about 8.5 miles to the summit following the Bush Mountain Trail all the way. The elevation gain from Dog Canyon to the summit is 2341 ft.

Essential Gear

Be prepared for high winds. Bring a gallon of water per day per person during the hot summer months. Snow can be encountered in the winter, however the temperatures are usually mild. Bring a warm jacket and a wind breaker during cold and windy days.
