Approach

The trailhead is at Weisslahnbad (Bagni di Lavina Bianca) in Eggental. You can reach it by car from Bozen (Bolzano) by following the signs to Tiers (Tires) and then further on to Weisslahnbad.

Route Description

Altitude Gain: 1500m
Duration: 7h
Trailhead: Weisslahnbad in the south of Schlern

A very strenuous but beautiful hike/climb. The hike first leads through the Tschamin gorge. Right at the start the gorge gets so narrow that you have to climb over the mountains to the south of it. Later, in the eastern part the valley first broadens with beautiful meadows but then rapidly closes into "Bärenfalle" (Buca d'Orso). A steep scramble of about an hour gets you to the trail between Tierser Alpl and the Schlern plateau which you can follow as described in the Rosszahn Pass and Tierser Alpl route.

Essential Gear

Normal hiking gear is sufficient.
